Artificial intelligence is transforming the way we study, teach, conduct research, and manage university services.
The University of Pavia promotes the conscious, responsible, and human-centred use of AI, embracing the opportunities offered by emerging technologies while upholding the principles of quality, transparency, inclusion, and academic integrity.
AI at UNIPV was created to provide the university community with a dedicated hub for artificial intelligence: a central access point for information, tools, practical guidance, and resources to help understand and use these technologies across different areas of university life.
Vision
The University aims to support students, faculty, researchers, and administrative and technical staff in developing AI-related skills and practices, fostering a critical, ethical, and sustainable approach.
AI is a cross-cutting technology that can support:
- teaching and learning;
- scientific research;
- innovation in processes and services;
- the creation and dissemination of knowledge.
The goal is not to replace human contributions, but to enhance them through tools that can improve accessibility, productivity, creativity, and analytical capabilities.
Objectives
Through this platform, the University of Pavia aims to:
- promote a culture of artificial intelligence based on awareness and responsibility;
- provide clear guidance on the appropriate use of AI tools in different university contexts;
- support experimentation and innovation in teaching, research, and university services;
- share practical examples, experiences, and best practices;
- foster the development and dissemination of digital skills within the university community.
Guidelines
The Guidelines for the Use of Artificial Intelligence at the University, approved by the Academic Senate on 15 May 2026, establish principles, recommendations, and practical guidance for the responsible use of AI tools in university settings.
The guidelines address topics such as:
- academic integrity;
